Research project will be a self-reflective exercise drawing upon course content and applying it to personal life. are not limited to writing an academic essay. You may elect to a multi-media presentation, short documentary, or a creative writing piece.
For this project you will need to expand on your identity exercise. You will be asked to use the analytical tools introduced in the course and apply them to your personal biography. To achieve this end, you may reflect on your family history (migration?), childhood experiences, institutional experiences (school, work, religious) of social (racial/ethnic, economic, sexual, gendered, ability) and cultural difference (consumer habit, food, language). How have your experiences of such differences shaped your life in Canada? Think about the privilege walk exercise and other ways to situate your experiences of privilege and oppression.
You are to apply concepts introduced in the course - from slides, readings, assignments to support the biographical content you examine. You are not expected to use content outside the course material for this project. However you are welcome to do if the need arises.
