Talk to a friend or family member about whether they have executed any kind of advance directive, and if so why they decided to make one, or if not why they haven't. Talk to the person about his/her wishes if the person is willing to do so. Your reflection can focus on any number of issues, but you should write about whether this was an easy or difficult discussion to have, and why. Consider reflecting on the choices your friend/family member made and whether these choices surprised you (but only write about this if you're comfortable doing so). Did your friend/family member already understand what advance directives are? What did you need to explain in more detail? What do you think the experience was like for your friend/family member to have this conversation? If the person you approached refused to have the conversation and/or decided not to discuss specific choices, you may reflect on that.

It is often difficult for health care providers to have similar conversations with patients. Do some research and cite to at least 1 peer-reviewed source that discusses the difficulty that providers have with conversations about advance directives. Based on your experience having the conversation, reflect on whether you can relate to these difficulties, and discuss why or why not.
