Assignment:

The Renaissance as an era in European history is associated with an increased interest in the dignity of the human being, or human perfectibility. Identify some examples of this and, of similar expressions of humanism, both within and outside Europe. Taking into account the whole set of examples you have found, are there any noticeable patterns in how human perfection is defined? Can it be related to the definitions of social class (e.g. the SPAM system) we have encountered from previous eras of history--for example, is human perfection identified with one particular social class? Also, do these visions of human perfection tell us anything about premodern globalization or global cultural interaction?
