Part l

There have been many determinants of health identified, some we control others are beyond our individual and group control such as hereditary illnesses. For the first question, we'll identify a variety of health determinants.

1. Think of some examples of health determinants and discuss where you think they fall into these categories of control; individual, environmental, regulatory/political, social, economical. Do they cross into multiple areas of control? Why or why not?

Next from the perspective of a manager let's examine how the services you might provide in your organization impact those determinants you thought about in question 1. (discuss from the reference point of the type of organization you picked to focus on for this culminating course)

2. How might these determinants affect health care needs and the services you provide?

3. How can you as a manager address the social issues discussed in the first question?

Part ll

For this part, you will need to read Case 1 in the Middleboro Case Study Book.

You will use the information in this chapter to choose which health care entity in our fictional town of Middleboro you will base all of your assignments on in this course. The goal of this assignment is for you to acknowledge that the focus of all written assignments in this course will be based on one of the seven health care entities described in the book.
