The American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics states the nurses:

"are expected to be aware of their own cultural identifications in order to control their personal biases that may interfere with the therapeutic relationship.

Self awareness involves not only examining one's culture but also examining perceptions and assumptions about the client's culture."

and:

[nurses] "should possess knowledge and understanding how oppression, racism, discrimination and stereotyping affect them personally and in their work. This allows [nurses] to acknowledge their own biased attitudes, beliefs and feelings."

With this in mind, please read the following questions and think about how you would respond. You do not have to share this information with anyone else, simply upload the assignment to the drop box to receive participation/completion points.

How ready are you to give equal attention, care and support to other people regardless ofrace, religion, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic class or other "difference?"
Do you personally believe that healthcare is a right? Or a privilege?
