Identify a nurse leader to interview in order to gain first-hand insights regarding the application of evidence-based practice in a healthcare setting.
Once you have identified the nurse leader, set up an interview to as the following questions:
1. What is an example of a recent evidence-based practice initiative in your organization, and what was the rationale for the initiative?
2. What process or steps were followed to implement the evidence-based initiative?
3. What ethical considerations were identified in this process, and how were they addressed?
4. How has application of this evidence-based practice initiative improved care? How has it impacted patient and organizational outcomes?
Once your interview is complete, write a paper to address all of the following items. Without using names of individuals or organizations, describe the role of the nurse leader you interviewed and the type of healthcare setting where the nurse leader practices.
Based upon your interview, describe one example of a recent evidence-based practice initiative that was applied, along with the rationale for that initiative.
5. Explain the process that was followed to implement the evidence-based practice initiative, including one ethical consideration that was identified in the process and how it was addressed.
6. Discuss the impact of the evidence-based practice initiative, including all of the following:
Impact on the delivery of nursing care
Impact on patient outcomes
Impact on organizational outcomes
