Ethical data collection is very important both for the results of the study and for the people participating in data collection. There are many things to consider when thinking about ethics in relation to data collection. Jayan, (2024), lists a few ethical considerations: privacy protection, fairness, trust, avoiding data misuse, and social responsibility. One of the articles I analyzed was studying whether or not visiting with a hospital chaplain had an effect on patients' anxiety, depression and spiritual wellbeing. Since this study involved research on hospitalized patients I'm sure there were some ethical considerations involved. Protection of privacy is an issue for anyone in the hospital, as well as fairness and data misuse. I think this article would have incorporated a Christian worldview since one of the factors being studied was spiritual wellbeing and the effects of chaplaincy on peace, anxiety and depression levels of various patients.
