Task Description:
Holistic person-centred care requires Registered Nurses to establish good therapeutic relationships with patients and carers and provide safe, quality nursing care. Students will engage in a 20-minute interaction with a 'patient' and/or carer based on a case scenario provided at the beginning of the assessment. During the interaction, students will be expected to demonstrate appropriate strategies to enhance person-centred communication and an application of the component parts of the person-centred framework.
The clinical assessment will take place on campus, and you will be required to attend at your allotted time.
Rationale:
The aim of this assessment is for you to demonstrate key clinical capabilities consistent with your level of training. Through completion of this assessment, you will meet unit learning outcomes two and three. You will demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively through an interaction with a patient/client and/or carer. The interaction and skills demonstrated in this assessment will be linked to the contents of the modules in this unit and will provide the foundations for all of your future nursing interactions, preparing you for your future Professional Experience Placement (PEP) and associated ANSAT assessments.

The case scenario that you receive will be based on topics utilised in this unit. You will be required to demonstrate your communication skills with one of the following patients/carers:
