Everybody makes mistakes and not all programs go as planned. It is an essential characteristic for a leader to learn from mistakes and heal together with a team. "There is something subtle communicated to one who is being served and led if, implicit in the compact between servant-leader and led, is the understanding that the search for wholeness is something they share" (Greenleaf, 1977/2002). Spears (2010) states, "The healing of relationships is a powerful force for transformation and integration. One of the great strengths of servant leadership is the potential for healing one's self and one's relationship with others. Although this is a part of being human, servant-leaders recognize that they have an opportunity to help make whole those with whom they come in contact" (Spears, 2010). What are your thoughts on this? How can the "healing" characteristic help public health leaders and affect public health programs?
