Sam is a 4-year-old patient who has been brought to the emergency department by their primary carer, Morgan. Morgan tells you that Sam has fallen off the trampoline and hit their head as they landed on the grass. Morgan believes that Sam has also bitten their tongue but is refusing to open their mouth or talk. When you try to assess Sam, you notice they are withdrawn and quiet, cuddling into Morgan. Morgan appears to be very worried as their partner is away and would usually be the one to "handle these situations". Morgan has never had to come to hospital before and is not sure what to do. You need to perform a complete assessment of Sam to establish a clear picture of their presentation.
