The social problem incidents of abuse and bigotry often go unreported. Researchers have explored lack of reporting from a number of perspective such as ... However, most research has not focused on structural elements of organizations that may hinder reporting. As such, this study will explore reasons for non reporting with a focus on the possible impact of structural issues. US military women's lives are impacted by sexual harassment in many different organizational contexts. Despite many efforts to curb it, military sexual assault remains widespread throughout all armed branches.

Gap: Kidd and Chayet (1984), who found that fear, helplessness, and the possibility of more abuse all work together to lower the chance of reporting. Reseachers have provided reasons why people fail to report. However, little is known about the the motivations and factors underlying the decision to report or not report abuse in the military.
