If I were working as the office manager in my own physician's practice, I would prefer to use a cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) system. I believe it is more secure and easier to access as long as there is Wi-Fi available. In today's generation, relying on hard copy records is no longer practical. Maintaining physical files creates more work for individuals and increases the likelihood of misplacing important information. From my experience working in insurance, I've seen how frequently people lose documents, which can lead to potential HIPAA violations. In contrast, a cloud-based storage system allows for all patient information to be securely locked on a desktop with a password.
