Question

As Kinzie discussed above, we are doing a project on the question, "Can using toys or talking as a distraction during vaccinations for infants and children be an effective pain management compared to simply holding them down?" I noticed a few issues with this research question. One is only finding research results on how to perform the vaccine rather than management to prevent this. Two is when you find pain management results, it is how a parent can do it after the vaccine was already given. When implementing deeper research, I found an article by Bukola and Paula who provided a study on pain management. "A meta-analysis of four studies showed distraction as effective in reducing procedural pain, based on self-reported pain"(Bukola and Paula, 2024). What we need to find is more research studies previously done like this and locate the results of medical staff using alternative pain management during the injection or previous ways they did during the injections as a comparison. Without these results of research, it will be more difficult for us to compare our work to these methods. To get better or more accurate results, we would need to provide in-person tests on children and infants.
