Question

List various routes of drug elimination-review normal renal function including glomerular filtration, passive tubular reabsorption and active tubular secretion; describe the implications on drug clearance and how elimination affects prescribing.

1. Define ½ life and Steady-State. State the implications of time to reach steady-state or the time for a drug to be eliminated from the body. Use ½ life to determine when drug reaches steady state. If you stopped a drug due to toxicity, determine when the drug level will be below toxic level based on the drugs ½ life.
