Question: Lawrence, a Junior Designer at a Technology company of 80 persons, had been seeing his doctor for a sore back for a number of months. He had undergone some chiropractic treatment, but his doctor determined that this only provided temporary relief. He suggested that Lawrence approach his Employer to have them purchase him a special desk and chair where he could adjust it, so that he could stand at his desk, for some part of each day. The desk and chair cost $1,800.

When the Employer received Lawrence's doctor's note he said to Lawrence's Supervisor: "Why should we spend the money to buy the equipments. He is just an average worker. We should provide these benefits only for the best on our team."

Consider the Employer's response. Does the Employer have any obligations here? To what extent? What would you do if you were the Employer? Be clear and precise.
