He reports he has taken a warm bath and has been massaging his abdomen with no relief. Stoma exam reveals a red, budded stoma measuring 1-3/4" in diameter. Mr. Jones appears distressed and explains that his stoma typically measures 1-1/4" in diameter. After assessment by the physician, it is recommended that Mr. Jones undergo an ileal lavage. Mr. Jones states his aunt has a colostomy and that she irrigates her stoma daily. He wonders if ileal lavage is the same as a colostomy irrigation. Based on the case study, answer the following:
