Mary is a young mother of an infant who is sick. She is living on a limited income but manages to take her baby to the doctor for diagnosis and a treatment plan. The physician prescribes "baby Tylenol" for the infant. Mary has insurance for the child but it does not cover over-the-counter medications and after paying the co-pay for the doctor visit, she has limited funds to pay all her bills for the month and for the treatment. Mary heads to the local big box store and goes to the pharmacy aisle where she finds the brand name "baby Tylenol" as well as the generic version. The brand name is nearly $20.00 for the bottle. The generic is $5.00 but she only has $3.25 in her pocket and does not have any other form of payment. Desperate to help her sick and crying baby, she slips the box into her diaper bed and heads out of the store. She feels terrible about what she has done but the baby has been crying for 2 days, practically non-stop. Mary has no one at home to help with the baby and she is exhausted and not able to think of another.
