This case examines the public relations and communications strategy of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, which is expected to launch a Covid-19 vaccine after announcing successful trials in the fall of 2020.
Answer these questions:
A. What does it mean for a company to distance itself from the same administration that they're working with? Do you think this was the right strategy for Pfizer?
B. Does Pfizer's strategy read as sincere or disingenuous considering the company still collaborated with the administration to secure a U.S. market for distribution?
C. What's the relationship between Pfizer's messaging and its stock prices? Do you think the communications have more to do with Pfizer wanting to distance itself from politics, or with making sure its potential vaccine rollout is as financially lucrative as possible?
