Scenario

When Jean Watson said that a nurse's insatiable need to care for others is our greatest strength and our greatest weakness, I think she was referring to a lack of concern towards our own wellbeing. Nurses may try to do everything in their power to provide excellent care for their patients but consequently diminish the care they are providing for themselves and their families. They may get so wrapped up in their workload that they become so fatigued and exhausted that they may not take the measures to work on themselves by the time they get home. Having a patient, you've been working with for weeks and have become close with suddenly dying can be a very traumatizing event.
