It is true that there has been an increase in the percentage of women students in primatology (from 38% women in the 1990s to 57% in 2008). However, even though more primatology students are women, most primatology professors tend to be men. Primatologists who are men also publish more articles than women primatologists. What might this pattern suggest about gender differences in scientific disciplines? Discuss in thorough detail.

Hint: Think about why there might be more men who publish and have high-ranking jobs, even though there are more women studying and earning degrees. Are there barriers that limit opportunities for women or promote opportunities for men?
