There are entire communication courses centered around the topic of Gender and Communication. Do women and men communicate differently? Communication researchers have categorized and labeled certain communication traits as a masculine style, while others are labeled as feminine communication traits. Most people display both styles of traits, and they may change between styles depending on their background and the context (for example at work vs. at home). We will explore the performative aspects of gendered communication in this section by focusing on nonverbal and verbal aspects of communication as it relates to gender.
