Hi, thanks for the draft of Chapter 1 and 2. I am really excited to start reading and give feedback. One area I know will need revision is the Overview of Research Methods in Chapter 1. This pertains to Chapter 3. I will be using all qualitative research methods, no quantitative. I will be using semi-structured interviews (either face-to-face or via zoom video conferencing platform, observations of IEP meetings, and analysis of IEP documents. The interviews, observation notes, and documents will be transcribed, coded, and a theme structure will be created. I wanted you have the attached two documents before you start working on Chapter 3.

The area I need the most help with is the best ways to analyze this type of qualitative data. I have attached some articles I used in my classes. I also have the following books I could mail to you if needed: Reason and Rigor: How Conceptual Frameworks Guide Research; Educational Research: Planning, Conducting, and Evaluating Quantitative and Qualitative Research; Qualitative Research Design: An interactive Approach; Designing Qualitative Research. We used these books so it would be fine to use them as references. Does this information help? What other information do you need?

I don't have many sources for Chapter 3, but I have attached what I have. For data collection, I will be doing semi-structured interviews of parents, teachers, and administrators in the four schools I am working with. I am trying to get all three perspectives in answering my research questions. I am hoping to interview 4 parents, 4 teachers, and 4 administrators. I will also be doing observations of IEP meetings , I am hoping to observe four meetings. I will also be analyzing IEP documents provided by parents. I am hoping to analyze 4 to 6 documents as well. Interviews will be recorded, transcribed, and coded. Observations will have notes that will be transcribed and coded. The interviews and IEP observations will done using Zoom online web conferencing and will be recording using that platform.
