Question

While going through all of my required curriculum for this degree the one recurring subject that comes up whenever its discussed is the LEEDs certification. I really do believe that this is an incredibly important program that is encouraging builders, engineers, and architects to focus more on producing green buildings and using sustainable resources to do it. Moreover, it is encouraging renovation contractors and business owners to consider using more sustainable and green products that will last longer in the long run. I think this is because LEEDs isn't solely about the initial build being green. It is also for the long term environmental impact that building will have once it is operational. It takes the entire life cycle of the building into account when the certifications are evaluated and awarded. I really do think it is an amazing program and the more certifications that can be awarded the better off and greener our industry can be. I know it will take a good amount of time before all builders, contractors, architects, and engineers fully buy into the idea and focus on using those sustainable materials regularly but once we can get to that point.
