Assignment:
1. Discuss the role of the HRIS in performance management at a company such as Stationery Depot (see the case study in question 1). Also include examples of how the HRIS can be utilised in performance management and related changes to the compensation of these employees at Stationery Depot.
2. When Stationery Depot (see the case study in question 1) embarked on the implementation and adoption of an HRIS they considered several systems and products from various vendors. They compiled an RFP and used specific criteria to select the most suitable vendor to address the HRIS needs of Stationery Depot. Discuss the criteria that Stationery Depot used to make this choice.
3. Stationery Depot (see the case study in question 1) goes from strength to strength and Serina decides to expand even further. With this, several changes came about. Many employees felt uncertain and they did not like the changes, others feared that job-losses might be eminent. In the warehouse the supervisor all of a sudden faced a problem of employees not coming to work on a regular basis. Identify the HR metric that can be used determine if this is indeed problematic. How will this be calculated?
4. The HRIS system that Stationery Depot (see the case study in question 1) implemented allows easy access to information for several role players. Aluwani is the manager in the warehouse and she uses the HRIS to track time and attendance of her staff members, her employees use the same system to among others clock in and out.
Hamza requests the HR team to train the various supervisors and branch managers at Stationery Depot to make use of the HRIS to among others record employee performance. All employees at Stationery Depot are also able to access their payslips and other information on the HRIS.
(a) Identify the structural approaches to HR administration that have been adopted at Stationery Depot.
(b) Briefly discuss two advantages for using such a system and also highlight two disadvantages of such a system for Stationery Depot.
