Robert is a 75-year-old man diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. His wife has been caring for him at home as his disease process progresses. Robert becomes confused and often does not remember how to get to the bathroom or where to find common items, such as his clothes. On these occasions, he becomes uncharacteristically agitated and responds by verbally abusing her. Grooming, dressing, and simple toileting have become stressful issues. The couple's two sons can provide little support because they live hundreds of miles away. One son reports that he "can't believe dad is as confused as mom thinks he is." Robert's wife, having no support to care for her husband.
