Public and Population Health

This Discussion is based on a case study. As in all case studies, review the facts of the case and consider the various steps of the nursing process in order to address the critical thinking questions. Case Study: At a staff meeting in the community health center, there is extensive discussion about how to address equity, access, and health care delivery in the community. Public health nurses have first-hand knowledge of the health needs of the community. Consequently, they can be influential leaders and collaborate with other stakeholders to address the health of the population. The nurses report that the health needs of many members of the community are often unmet. Discuss observations you have made in your community that should be addressed when equity and access to care is examined. Discuss factors that influence the capacity of the community to address social, ethical, and public health problems. Discuss opportunities for collaboration with community partners to promote population health.
