My interest in research was sparked during a webinar discussing opportunities for community college students. The topic of 'Neuroscience of Autism' specifically resonated with me due to my hands-on experience at a pediatric occupational therapy clinic. There, I had the opportunity to assist Occupational Therapists with children, including those with autism. This experience provided me with valuable insights into the unique challenges these children face, and the therapeutic strategies used to help them. The research opportunity would be a perfect fit for my aspirations.

It aligns with my passion for working with children with autism and my goal of becoming an Occupational Therapist. The project's focus on improving scientific understanding of disgust processing and moral reasoning in autistic and non-autistic children aligns with my desire to contribute to the development of more targeted therapies. Furthermore, this research opportunity will provide me with a deeper understanding of the neurological aspects of autism, which I can apply in my future career as an Occupational Therapist. It will also allow me to contribute to a field that I am passionate about and that has the potential to significantly improve the lives of children with autism.
