Case Study

Tom is working with Alfred, an indigenous man of 41 years old who has been homeless for many years and is a chronic homeless person. Alfred has been referred by the Discharge Planner from the local hospital where he had been admitted following a drug overdose. Alfred has been diagnosed with acquired brain injury as a result of violence and alcohol and drug use. Alfred's homelessness has evolved from the breakdown of family and social networks together with cultural factors. His response has been to retreat to drug and alcohol abuse that further entrenches his homelessness.
