According to the standard cosmological model, the very early universe was incredibly hot, dense, and bright. After the Big Bang, atoms formed very quickly and the universe expanded rapidly until eventually complex structures like stars and galaxies could form. There are several pieces of physical evidence today that support the Big Bang, including:

The Cosmic Microwave Background radiation
Big Bang Nucleosynthesis
The expansion of the universe (Hubble's Law)

Choose one of the above pieces of observational evidence to research. Describe that piece of evidence in one of the following formats:

Describe the observations and how it supports the big bang theory
Describe the observations and how another theory (other than the Big Bang) could produce the same observations
Identify a discrepancy between the observation and the Big Bang model, and describe possible ways of reconciling the model and observations.

Whichever piece of evidence you choose, make sure to describe the evidence, the model, and to compare the evidence to what is predicted by the model.
