Question

Willow Rosenberg is a 23-year-old female who was recently transferred from the Emergency Department. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus years ago and manages her illness using an insulin pump. Willow has a very good understanding of her disease and has been managing fairly well until her recent illness. For the past 72 hours, she has experienced increasingly severe diffused abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. She has had a significantly decreased appetite for the past 4 days. She stopped her insulin pump 48 hours ago due to her symptoms of anorexia and vomiting. Willow was admitted to the unit from the ER and once stabilized she has been transferred to your medical unit. She currently has an IV Insulin drip ( Regular ) at 3units / hour.
