Q1) 75 Democrats and 60 Republicans were studied on their support of gun control legislation using standardized measure (high scores representing greater support of gun control). Democrats had mean level of support for gun control legislation of 6.0 with standard deviation of 1.2. Republicans had mean level of support of gun control legislation of 4.9 with standard deviation of 1.4. Using data provided, test if there is a difference between means at alpha =.05.

Q2) Sex differences in "openness to experience" were examined by administering quantitative test of this characteristic to 7 men and 5 women (higher the score, less open to experience). Scores for 7 men were: 12, 10, 6, 9, 15, 12, 14 and scores for the 5 women were: 8, 5, 9, 4, 6. What can be concluded about sex differences in openness to experience?
