Although the LGBTQ+ community has undergone many changes and battles, there are still members within the community who are still going through their own battles. Unfortunately, those who identify as bi or trans are considered a minority within the community. This can perhaps be due to them being stereotyped as indecisive. Many individuals have the misconception that individuals who identify as either bi or pan only do so momentarily while they figure out their sexual orientation, but this is far from the truth. Being bisexual means being attracted to both malesfemales and female and being pansexual means being attracted to anyone regardless of their sex or gender identity. Being part of this community does not mean that you are indecisive or unsure, in fact it means that you are open to more than just one specific individual. Not only that, but it is also important to note that while being bi means you like both males and females, you can have a preference or like one sex more than the other and still identify as bi. As for the trans/non-binary community it can be difficult to fit in with the rest of the community since technically they do not check in any box like the others in the community do, which is why they can feel as a minority within a minority or underrepresented in the community.

When taking this into consideration I can see why individuals would prefer to identify as queer instead. Queer is coined as an umbrella term for many individuals and can be easier to understand and explain. Identifying as queer means identifying with something outside the typical norms whether it be societal, sexual, or gender norms. It can be difficult for the LGBTQ+ community to feel heard and understood, and that is something that should change. For the most part individuals understand what being "gay" or" lesbian" mean but with the expansion of the community, it may be difficult for some individuals to fully understood or even be aware that other forms of identities exist. Creating awareness and expanding our knowledge can really make a difference in the expansion of the community as a whole.
