The difference between a policy and a procedure is that policy is the regulations that guide an organization, and procedures are a set of instructions on completing a task that maintain the standards set within the policy. A policy sets the direction an organization will be guided by and influenced in decision-making in day-to-day management and strategies while maintaining flexibility (ComplianceBridge, 2017). Procedures are focused, and step-by-step in the actions of a specific task that has a starting point and an end point (ComplianceBridge, 2017).
