Louisa is a 62-year-old female who was recently diagnosed with diabetes. She is relatively sedentary, although she does walk her dog once per day around the block. Because she is widowed, and her kids live in another state, she does not cook much and often eats convenience foods and fast food. Her mother was a diabetic so Louisa has some experience with the disease. Her doctor did not put Louisa on insulin, but may need to if she is not able to control her blood glucose with diet and diabetic pills (oral agents). Ht: 5'4" Wt: 155 lbs Diet hx: (examples of typical intake) Breakfast - breakfast sandwich from McDonalds or toast and peanut butter with 2% milk, coffee with creamer Lunch - fast food such as a burger and fries, Wendy's large chili, or Subway foot long with meat, cheese, mayonnaise and tomatoes, diet soda Dinner - frozen pizza (meat toppings), box mac and cheese, or canned soup with a sandwich (meat and cheese), tea sweetened with sugar Snacks - grapes or an apple, potato chips or Doritos, dry roasted peanuts, Snickers bar What type of diabetes do you suspect Louisa has?
