Type 2 diabetes requires self- management practices to control and prevent complications. and not someone like Joyce doesn't have to do it alone. Family involvement in the diabetic teaching may be helpful in the management of diabetes in the case of Joyce Workman. Family support can have a physiological impact on medication adherence and can be helped in times of a medical emergency.(Mphasha et al, 2022). Mrs. Workman could benefit from proper techniques on insulin injections and education on when to make any oral medication prescribed. Exercise can help with weight management and blood sugar. Educating the importance of regularly monitoring the blood sugar and maintaining near the target can also improve cardiovascular risk factors which can become later on a chronic complication of type 2 diabetes(Amanat et al,2020). Regular follow up and monitoring of fasting glucose and other pertinent laboratory testing is helpful in diabetes management and reduces the need for hospital stays. With the collaboration with the medical providers patients like Joyce can see improvement of quality of life. Managing diabetes requires knowledge and regular follow up can help enforce or re educate the patient.
