Task details: In this assignment you are to imagine yourself as a Diversity Management Consultant. You have been asked by a company to assist them with:
Becoming a more inclusive organisation
Developing a diversity and inclusion report targeting one of three areas of workplace diversity:
Disability
First Nation Australians
LGBTIQA+
You can assume that this company is just starting out on their journey toward becoming an inclusive organisation. The company have over 100 employees, including women, older workers, employees from other cultural backgrounds, people with different sexual orientations, and workers with disability employed in their company, whether they know it or not.
You are to develop a diversity and inclusion report for the company. The company's goal is to have inclusion integrated throughout the organisation. Your assignment will be based on an Australian context. If you would like to use a different topic, such as ageing workforce or asylum seekers/refugees please contact unit chair for written approval.
Assignment Instructions:
Select one (1) of the focus areas from the topics above. The report must contain; a title page, executive summary, contents page, introduction, body, conclusion, recommendations and reference list (APA7 format). Apply theories, frameworks and models from HDS210 throughout your report.
The assignment is to be written in the form of a report, as per Deakin's report writing guidelines. It should contain:
Title page
Title, name, student ID, unit code, date, word count.
Contents page
For each subsection of your report
An executive summary
States your chosen topic (from the 3 options above)
Approximately 200 words. States the problem, how it was investigated, what was found, and what the findings mean.
An introduction
Sets the scene and gives some background information about the topic. States the aim/purpose of the report and outlines of the sections in the body of the report.
Defines an inclusive workplace, workplace diversity, and diversity management (DM).
Describes the factors making DM important for organisations in Australia today.
Sets out the goal of your role (DM consultant), and what the report will cover (this is similar to a mission statement).
Approximately 300 words
Body of report
Organised into sections: what was investigated, how it was investigated it, what was found (evidence), and interpretations.
Present relevant data, statistics and research (what/how/findings as per above). This includes government reports, industry data and academic literature.
Discuss some of the barriers to inclusive workplaces such as the attitudinal barrier that has resulted in members of disadvantaged groups like people with disability and women being treated less favourably in employment (link to chosen topic).
Discuss the range of strategies you would recommend be implemented to assist your organisation become confident about employing people from those traditionally disadvantaged groups and more inclusive generally (link to chosen topic). This includes consideration of managing diversity in the workplace.
Present findings in the form of 3 action areas (priorities for organisation)
Approximately 650-700 words
Conclusion
Summary, what the report achieved - did it meet its aims, the significance of the findings and a discussion and interpretation of the findings.
Approximately 150-180 words
Recommendations
What is recommended as a course of action following the conclusion?
Identify and discuss 3 strategies for the organisation (one for each action area). Ensure these are evidence-based.
How you would measure and monitor improvement and success. Are these sustainable?

You may use subheadings throughout. Appendices are optional, and not included in your word count.
