Last semester at my internship, I was able to observe a clinician engaging with clients and learn the importance of how group support can help and help them to become self-fulfilled, and self-sufficient and promote cross-cultural understanding. I have observed one of the clinicians who do individual rehab to help discuss, encourage, and educate the client's needs. This engagement played an important role when the clinician was educating about what coping mechanism should the client use in order to help the client achieve their goals. This tool was utilized to provide support and educate the client on the importance of coping skills that can help reduce depression, stress, overthinking, etc. This helps me understand how each caseload is different and know what coping skills to give in order to support and acknowledge the client to follow up with the client's clinician for more support. This influenced me on how I should engage with clients and make sure I am guiding them at the right resource and counseling them on the right path. This is important because it helps me understand how I can achieve this by developing a relationship with the client, demonstrating empathy, and clarifying expectations related to the helping process.
