Question
Develop a research proposal to conduct a nursing study.
1. Introduction: Include a thesis statement, background of the issue, purpose, and significance to nursing (education, administration, and clinical practice). This section should include current statistics to support your topic.
2. State the PICOT and provide evidence-based rationale from textbooks, scholarly journal articles, and vetted websites for each element using resources less than five years old.
P = Patient, Population, or Problem: Describe the proposed sample, steps you will use to recruit the sample, and a summary of the informed consent.
I = Intervention or Interest: Describe the type of research design, data collection method (tool or procedure), and context of the interventions.
C = Comparison Intervention or Current Practice: Detail the implementation strategies, sample inclusion criteria, variables, and data analysis plan.
O = Outcome(s) Desired: Explain your hypothesis and how your study will impact patient care, address a workplace problem, or improve patient outcomes on your unit.
T=Time to Achieve Outcome: Identify the estimated time required to complete the study and determine if the intervention impacted patient care outcomes.
3. Review of Literature: Detail your topic's current research and best-practice findings by using three to four academic journal articles, textbooks, and Uniform Resource Locators (URLs). Link the problem with the evidence-based practice references and whether you discovered support for a change or continuing current practices.
4. Conclusions: How will you disseminate your research findings? What is the value of your study's information for nursing, and what contributions to better practice outcomes do you expect?
