Case Study:

Daniel is a 45 years-old recently divorced man with a diagnosis of major depressive disorder (MDD). His symptoms include depressed mood, fatigue, poor sleep, lack of appetite, and poor concentration for the last month. He has been isolating at home and expresses feeling guilty about his wife leaving him. He believes the divorce is all his fault and feels hopeless about his future. He admits to having passing thoughts of wishing he was no longer alive.

Instructions:

1. Develop three (3) nursing diagnostic statements using the Problem-Etiology-Supporting data (PES) format:

• Problem: use the NANDA list in the resources section to identify three (3) diagnoses.
• Etiology: identify the possible reason(s)/cause(s) for each problem. This information should be individualized and come from the case study only.
• Supporting data: List/describe all the objective and subjective assessment data to support each diagnosis. This information should be individualized and come from the case study only.

2. Identify/list one (1) priority nursing diagnosis.

3. List and describe three (3) prioritized evidence-based interventions for your one (1) priority nursing diagnosis. Interventions must include at least one medication with detailed information i.e., starting dose, adverse effects to assess/monitor, etc.
