Assignment:
Monica, Pora, Emeline, and Aisha were close friends at university. They took classes together, did volunteer work together, and went to parties together where they would all drink beer or wine coolers -- whatever everyone else was drinking. The goal was always to get intoxicated.
Monica was upbeat and the most outgoing of the group. At parties, she always seemed to run into people she knew and enjoyed getting loud and dancing with whoever was around. She sometimes stayed sober when she was in charge of driving her friends home. The parties were still fun, but not as fun. She would still dance, but didn't get loud or sing when sober.
Pora didn't really like the taste of alcohol, but thought she looked out of place at a party if she didn't have a drink in her hand all night. She didn't want to look like she wasn't having as much fun as other people, so she typically didn't stay sober for long once she arrived at the parties. It was worth it. When she was the designated driver, she didn't enjoy the parties as much. Sometimes, she would even fill her beer bottle with water, so she at least looked like she was drinking.
Emeline and Aisha were typically the more quiet friends in the group. Emeline felt awkward talking to people she didn't know well. She hated being the designated driver because it was even harder to talk to people when they were drunk and she was sober. When she and her friends went to parties, Emeline was always eager to start drinking because once she was tipsy, she didn't worry about what other people might be thinking about her. It was a relief to not care.
Aisha was also eager to start drinking. She loved the warm feeling that came over her and felt more confident and talkative than when she was sober. She became more social and tended to make new friends at parties who she would spend time with outside of parties, as well. She found being the designated driver kind of a dud; she enjoyed herself much more when she wasn't.
Based on the differences in each person's motivation for drinking, who is most likely to develop an addictive relationship with alcohol?
Why?
