1. Working in pairs you are to consider the following:

2. You are a new HR Clerk for a small manufacturing firm consisting of 50 employees. You have received some questions regarding Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements. Your HR Manager has asked you to research the questions to determine the organizations obligations and what best practices you would recommend to address the concerns.

3. Your responses should go beyond simple yes or no answers. This will be your opportunity to impress your boss with your research skills and ability to craft clear and concise responses to questions.

4. Your responses should include the following:

• State the appropriate section, paragraph, and subparagraph, if applicable, of the Act that is relevant to the question asked. For example, definitions can be found in Section 1, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph (1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. You can use the short form of S1(1)(1) of the OHSA if you would prefer.
• Explain in plain language the requirements of the employer, supervisor or employee given the situation presented.
• You can also highlight any potential penalties that could apply if the situation is not addressed.
• Highlight potential options and considerations the decision maker should address based on minimum requirements of the Act as well as best practice approaches.
