A train made up of 3 cars of weight 60,000 lb each connected by coupling springs of Stiffness 15,000 lb/in. is released by a shunting engine and rolls freely along a track (Fig.). Determine the mode shapes and frequencies of vibration of the system of cars by Sweeping the rigid body mode.
