Two tensiometers are installed vertically side-by-side in the field. The porous cups are located 0.2 and 0.8 m deep below soil surface. The water level in both tensiometers is 0.1 m above ground. The shallower tensiometer reads -50 mb and the deeper tensiometer reads -100 mb.

Assuming that 1 mb = 1 cm, determine the hydraulic head at each depth. Is the soil water draining or evaporating from the soil profile?
