We need to examine a variety of data including: In the Atlanta CCD, Fulton County, Georgia

demographic trends
births and maternal and child health indicators
deaths including leading causes of death
communicable diseases
injury/violence/crime
behavioral risk factors
social determinants including socioeconomic characteristics

We also need to compare our local data to state and national indicators to determine the status of our local data in light of other regions.

We may examine the trends - are rates increasing or decreasing? We may also look for persistent problems that remain unchanged. Finally we may examine national benchmarks - Health People Objectives, to determine whether where our community stands in relation to these goals.

Consider the community in Atlanta CCD, Fulton County, Georgia, work in or the community

How big of a problem is it - what proportion of the population is affected by it? Is it increasing, decreasing or a persistent problem? How does it compare to the state, nation or to HP2020?
Why is it a health problem? How does it affect the community? Does it result in serious death, disease or disability?
How readily can this health status problem be changed? How easily is this prevented? What are barriers to success? What interventions have been tried? Are there examples of success from this community or other communities?
