Question

One of your patients arrives for an appointment 6-week post-partum and shares with you that she is concerned that she may not be "loving" her baby like other mothers. She is 28 years old without any significant medical history, she has two children, 4 and 5 years old. She has given up breast feeding because she began feeling incredibly stressed caring for the baby and her other two children. She confides in you that she has not informed anyone else of how she has been feeling. You are being asked to propose legislation to provide mothers diagnosed Post-Partum Depression with paid leave.
