Assignment
For this Synthesis Paper, assume that you are providing a position statement/proposal for consideration as the next Athletic Director at UF (you are applying/interviewing for the job).
As the hopeful Athletic Director (head AD), your position statement/proposal will detail the organizational culture you will foster in UF athletics (*make sure to use support from the module content or outside resources). To make the case for why the University President should hire you:
1. Explain why racial diversity is a critical issue that needs to be at the forefront of the mission of UF athletics;
2. Explain the barriers to sport leadership created by ideologies about race;
and
3. Describe what you will do to foster an organizational culture that values diversity (specifically how you will create an inclusive environment).
The Module Synthesis Paper assignment is a critical evaluation and application of the module readings, in-class discussions, and media presentations.
The Module Synthesis Paper is a response (or responses) to a prompt (or prompts) on the module topic or a specific issue presented in the module. The assignment grade is based on the student's ability to
a) identify critical elements of the module that are relevant to the prompt,
b) leverage facts and figures (information) from the module to support the response,
c) synthesize elements of the module readings, in-class discussions, and media presentations to effectively respond to the prompt(s), and
d) effectively communicate the response.
All Synthesis Papers are to be submitted through Canvas.
You must answer all prompts in each question. You can organize your paper by identifying the question prompts if you choose.
Writing matters - all papers must be written with proper grammar and punctuation, correct spelling, and coherently organized sentences and paragraphs. Papers should be double-spaced.
Citing your resources is required. All citations should follow APA formatting. You don't need to provide a references list for course readings, but if you draw information from an outside reading, article, or video, (such as from your group discussion board), that should appear in a references list at the end of your document.
