Title - Investigating the Implementation of Reverse Logistics Practices in New Zealand Construction Industry: Supplier Challenges and Resource Needed

Learning outcome 1: Undertake applied research, that demonstrates advanced knowledge and theory, to complete an industry research project.

Learning outcome 2: Engage collaboratively with stakeholders to complete an industry research project.

Aim of the assignment

The aim of the assignment is to enable students to independently apply research methods to investigate a business research question. Students will undertake applied research, engage and communicate with stakeholders, and report on an industry research project identifying implications for business practice.

Assignment instructions PART 1

This assessment has two parts. The first part is to prepare a research proposal setting out the road map for your industry research project. Once the research proposal is approved you will complete the research project under the guidance of a supervisor.

Part 1- Industry Research Proposal (prerequisite for part2)
Your research proposal should include the following elements. The proposal should not exceed 3,000 words. It's important to note that students are required to submit an Ethics Checklist, Consent Form, Information Sheet, and Interview Guide along with the proposal submission.
Title: There should be a title page with the full title of the research paper, your name, course title, name of the institution, date of the submission and name of your supervisor.
Introduction: This section is a description of what you plan to do, and why. Therefore, you need to define and formulate your research questions or issues to proceed with the project. You should contextualise the research questions. This section must be strongly supported by the literature review.

Literature Review: This section is to demonstrate how you understand the academic literature in the area of your research and how your research will build upon it.

Methodology: This section explains how you are going to conduct your research and why. Therefore, you need to provide your research design, data collection and analysis methods as well as the limitations of your study.
Ethics: You also need to demonstrate that you have a clear understanding of ethical issues in the context of your research and how you will address them.
Project timeline: You need to provide a timeline of the order of tasks and events within your project from start to finish.
References: All cited sources must be properly referenced in APA7 style.
Video presentation: Prepare a 5-minute video presentation based on your research proposal. The presentation should effectively communicate the key aspects of your proposal and showcase your ability to articulate your research ideas concisely and engagingly. It also needs to explain any changes that you have made to the proposal that you submitted in assignment3-BSNS8004 and why.

Part 2- Industry Research Report

For this assignment, you are tasked with conducting the research as per the guidelines outlined in your approved research proposal from Part 1 of this assessment. You will present your findings and analyses in a comprehensive research report.
Research Report Structure:
Title Page: Include your name, the title of your research, your supervisor's name, and the date of submission.
Abstract: Provide a succinct summary of your research project, including the problem statement, methodology, main findings, and conclusion.

Introduction: Present the background of the study, clearly defining the problem and your research objectives/research questions as well as importance of your research. Remember that you need to build up your research questions and all arguments based on literature.
Literature Review: Summarize the key theories, models, and empirical studies relevant to your research topic. You also need to demonstrate your understanding of depth and breadth of relevant literature reviewed, a critical synthesis of existing literature, and strong anchoring of the research question within the existing literature. Methodology: Describe the research design, data collection methods, data analysis procedures, and any analytical tools and methods used. Also, discuss the justification for these choices as well as discussing ethical considerations for this particular study.
