Chapter 7
Define all bold-faced terms in the text, discuss how understanding the growth of microbes allows one to control the growth of microbes. Know the 3 levels of disinfectants. Know Spaulding's levels of classification. Differentiate between physical and chemical control methods. Be able to describe the types of physical controls covered in your text and lecture. Describe how an autoclave works and how it is checked to ensure sterilization has occurred.
Define the D value and know how to use the D value to estimate the time it takes to disinfect an item.

Discuss what happens to energy production when one of the subpathways is interrupted if the cell is an aerobe vs. a facultative anaerobe.
