Assignment:
BACKGROUND
The Learning Activity: Provide a summary of the activity, describing what students do in the activity.
A classroom activity that teaches about indigenous languages' histories and cultures could involve students learning about and researching the different indigenous languages spoken in Australia. The activity would involve students finding out about the different languages, where they are spoken and by how many people. Students could then research the history and culture surrounding each language. This could involve finding out about the traditional stories and beliefs associated with the language, as well as the customs and traditions that are still practised today. The activity would culminate with students presenting their findings to the class.
Indigenous Resource: Describe the Indigenous Resource, and how you would use it in the learning activity
The Indigenous Resource that would be useful for this activity is the Australian Aboriginal Languages map, which can be found at. This map shows the different language groups across Australia and is a great way for students to visualise the diversity of indigenous languages in our country. It would be used in the activity to help students understand where the different languages are spoken and by how many people.
