A mechanical test is conducted on three different materials. In this experiment, a constant tensile stress is applied instantly to a specimen. The first material, a rubber, deforms rapidly during the application of the stress, with the extent of deformation becoming progressively less until it reaches an equilibrium gage length. The second, a thermosetting material, reacts to the applied stress by deforming almost instantaneously to an equilibrium extension. The third, a thermoplastic material, initially deforms to substantial extension in response to the stress and then deforms further with the extension varying linearly with time.
(a) Describe the behavior of each material with an appropriate combination of springs and dashpots.
(b) Describe the behavior of each material following the removal of the tensile stress.
Use the chord definition to compute the curve parameters L, T, E, M, LC, R, and stations of the PC and PT for the railroad curve with DC = 2deg0'00', I=18deg,0'00' and PI station =25+50.00ft
Assume that the interfacial tension between oil-water is 22 dynes/cm and the contact angle through water is 93
A mixture containing 45 wt% benzene and 55 wt% toluene is fed to a distillation column. An overhead stream of 95 wt% benzene is produced, and 8.0 % of the benzene fed to the column leaves in the bottom stream.
A divided multilane highway in a recreational area (fp = 0.90) has four lanes (two lanes in each direction) and is on rolling terrain. The highway has 10-ft lanes with a 6-ft right-side shoulder and a 3-fl left-side shoulder. The posted speed is 50 m..
A runs slope a distance of 156.777 m from one point to another point at a rate of +1.5%. What is the corresponding horizontal distance between the points?
If OA has an angular acceleration α0 = 4 red/s2 and an angular velocity ω0 = 2 red/s when both OA and CB are normal to AB, calculate the force in CB for this instant. (Suggestion: Consider the use of Eq. 6/3 with A as a moment center.)
Prevention and Repair of Cracks In Building - Characterization of the total efficiency of any fiber could be directed how to work with permanent fiber as well as cost-effective design of the mixture
Calculate the compression resistance of 200 UC 59.5 column which is 3.6 m high (between lateral supports). Both ends of the stanchion are held effectively in position but only one is also restrained in direction. Use grade 43 steel
Choose two of the five Respiratory Hazards. Provide a brief explanation of each hazard and describe a situation in which you may encounter them. What effects would each of these hazards have on your body
A 1.0-m rigid horizontal support is hung by two cables. One cable is brass and The other cable is high-density polyethylene plastic. At room temperature (21°C), the cables measure 3.50 m vertically.
Considere a person who consumes 2100 kcal par day, of which 2000 kcal is converted tu hermal energy.( the remaining 100 kcal is used to do work on the environment.) The person has a surface area of 1.8 m² and is dressed in a bathing suit.
